DSA Prepares for Downtown Light Spectacular
The 2008-09 holiday season is fast approaching and DSA is ready with a full slate of festive celebrations. From the Qwest Carousel in Westlake Park, to Downtown tree lighting, to the new Downtown Light Spectacular, there are many ways to get involved with this year’s winter events.

| Construction begins on one of the 40 light sculptures for DSA’s Downtown Light Spectacular |
Along with the traditional Qwest Carousel, this year the DSA is producing a Downtown Light Spectacular that will include 40 holiday-themed light sculptures – lit with energy-saving LED lights - placed throughout Downtown, replacing the popular Nutcracker March. More than half of these sculptures, ranging from six to eight feet in height, have already been sponsored by DSA members, but additional sponsorship opportunities are available now.
In addition to the holiday activities taking place in the Retail Core, the DSA’s neighborhood committees are hard at work to create fun, family-friendly holiday experiences in Pioneer Square and on the Waterfront. Building on last year’s successful events, plans for the Pioneer Square Historic Holiday and Merry Time on the Waterfront are well underway. Expect new surprises and plenty of holiday cheer from this year’s celebrations.
