5th Avenue Gets a Makeover

5th Ave Repaving Project on Track for Phase One Completion

Phase one of the Fifth Avenue re-paving project is under way and on schedule in Downtown Seattle, with equipment steadily making its way from Denny Way towards Olive Way, the end point for repairs.

To-date, work has included pavement base and curb ramp repair in the west, center and east lanes of Fifth Avenue. According to the Seattle Department of Transportation, the next three weeks of construction will include:

Pavement Base Repairs

  • Repairs to the west, center and east lanes, from Denny to Stewart.
  • Base repairs include saw cutting, removing the existing asphalt and paving the repaired sections.

Curb Ramp Repair

  • Remove and replace curb ramps (west and east lanes, Denny to Stewart). Repairs will take place approximately three blocks at a time.

The Fifth Avenue Paving Project Information Line (206-615-0505) has been established for callers to listen to regularly recorded project updates. Callers may also leave a message or request that someone from the project team contact them.
